I make work at the intersections of fat embodiment, climate grief, and speculative futures. I love magical realism!

I am inspired by experimental filmmakers and movement poets who use their mediums to disrupt power, protect the vulnerable, and honor the transformative power of relationships.

On A Slowly Fading Circle

This film brings footage of California’s wildfires together with rotoscope animation, and an original poem, to question my relationship to the future. Dominant media narratives attempt to convince the public that fat people don’t exist in the future, that we are running out of time. Meanwhile, the actual threats on our lives — climate chaos, capitalism, and discrimination — are conveniently left unnamed. Violence against the environment mirrors violence against the fat body. How do I picture fat communities, and the earth, 100 years from now? What will it take for us to be protected, nurtured, and safe?

Maria’s Story

Originally created for Rian Brown-Orso’s Animation class at Oberlin College, Maria’s Story animates an anonymous submission to the STOP Story Archive, a community-produced anti-violence initiative that seeks to publicize a wide range of transformative justice narratives. The STOP Story Archive includes perspectives of survivors, bystanders, family members, and harm-doers.

ode to the backyards and the dreams i had within them

A video poem ode to everyone lost and affected by the Ghost Ship Fire, December 4th, 2016, in Oakland, CA. It is important to me to name the true instigators of this tragic loss: gentrification, government corruption, and the war on the working class. Rest in Peace and Power.

Miss Foxine and the Birthday Adventure

This short film was completed with the guidance of Mara Ramirez through their course Drawing As A Mode of Nurturance. It is a papercut, stop-motion animation stemming from personal mythology and animalia. A fairy tale romp starring a cast of wacky characters, including one trepidatious fox, a starry-headed sea monster, and a river of magical tears.
